Another finished object

So I have been working super hard on finishing a baby blanket for a friend of mine and last night I did it! It was done. I washed it this morning before work and took it to work with me to dry flat. Here are the pics...

And needless to say...baby Austin was just a bit fussy, but I'm sure he will enjoy the blankie made just for him.

Braces

So my oldest, Renae just got her upper braces and a palette expander. Once the expander starts doing its job then she will get the wires added. She was very excited (so was I)! She couldn't sleep last night because she was sooooo excited. And just so I have a before pic....here goes.

So this is the start of a 2 year process. The palette expander stays in for 6 months (or so) and then many fun events will soon follow. I'm sure this is only the beginning of the pics you will see.

So just to update with some pics...

Here is my oldest, Renae, holding her trophy after winning her championship game.

Mud and all. This was (as I said before) an AWESOME game!!!

And here are some pics of the sample sock that I knit up for the shop. This yarn is called Happy Choices. It comes prenknit in a scarf and you unravel and knit from it. Neat concept...

We Are The Champions!!!

So the final softball tournament game was 7/12/08. The game started at 5:30 in the afternoon and that's about when the sky started looking a little dark. During the game we were poured on, forced off the field for a 15 min break since lightening was in the area and then more rain. In the final inning we needed 5 to tie and 6 to win...and we won! Final score? 15 to 14! In the pouring rain and all. I will add pics later of my little champion and her trophy...mud and all.

It was an awesome game and both teams played hard! There were many tears from the other team as trophies were handed out. All players of both teams wanted it bad, and with a final score of 15-14 it definately shows. GREAT GAME!

In knitting news...

I finished knitting a store sample sock and will post pics soon.

I am also working on an alphabet baby blanket for a friend and will post pics of it soon too.

Sorry didn't bring my camera with me today....chill! ok!

Softball season coming to an end

So the official last "makeup" game of the season was on Monday. Thanks to all of the rain this season it made for a lot of makeup games. But we ended on a high note. We are ranked #2 in the league. So tonight is the start of the Championship Tournament. And as long as rain does not interfere, it will be everynight for the rest of the week into the weekend as long as the girls keep winning.

And now starts rec league cheerleading. From one thing to another. Both girls are in it and practices are on different nights of the week for each girl which keeps me and their dad hopping. And then add in the fact that my 13 year old is at the start of getting braces. I don't save much money in gas with all of the running I do. And then at the end of this month is sign ups for volleyball and Renae might join that too. No rest for the wicked...sigh.

Ok, back to knitting my cardi. I've finally hit the armpit area and have divided it out to start the fronts and back. Not liking how that pattern is so I'm improvising a bit. Hope it turns out. (me crossing fingers and wishing for the best).

2 New FO's To Share :)

Hello blogland, long time no talk to. So during my busy time with my girls...softball, cheerleading. I have managed to keep knitting. And I just would like to share with you all 2 of my latest additions.

First off, I would like you to meet Sheldon. He's a gift for my friend Derek and his wife who are expecting a new baby boy. I'm sure he'll be loved by the baby.

Sheldon comes out of his shell but I didn't take a picture of a naked turtle. He's a little modest.

Specs:

Pattern found here. I used mercerized cotton on size US3 DPN's. Pattern was a bit hard to read when it came to doing the shell. I had never done any color work before so it was like reading another language. So a little help from Ms. Vita and all was well. Also a little hard to understand from the pattern how all of the pieces came together for the shell so I just improvised.

Onto my next finished object...The Amanda Hat (free download on Ravelry).

Great quick knit. Started it on Thursday, June 26, 2008 and finished it Saturday, June 28, 2008. Didn't work on it at all on Friday though. Love this pattern! I definately recommend it. I knit this up for a store sample for the shop because it shows off the malabrigo yarn so well. Enjoy!

1st Softball game of the year

Ok, yes....I know. Starting the season a little late...but better late than never.

So this is my oldest daughters first time ever playing softball and tonight was their first game. After many canceled practices and alot of rain, I was a bit worried that they would get their butts handed to them. But, they did AWESOME!!! Final score in the bottom of the 5th was 19 to 7. Enough to call the game. Thank goodness since it was freezing outside. And my baby girl got a double! Way to go!!!

Ok, this is completely off of the knitting topic. But I just had to share in my joy. My youngest who is in 4th grade just received an award for being an outstanding student this month. The #1 Student of the month club. She will be getting an award certificate and breakfast this Friday.

And then....

My oldest, who is in 7th grade was just selected to be in her schools National Honor Society. I am going to the ceremony next week. I hope to get a few good pics if the lighting is good. And on top of my double whammy of AWESOME news she also brought home a report card with straight A's. WHOO HOO!

I am one proud mama!

Not Much Going On...(sigh)

Hello dear blogworld. Yes, I am still alive and breathing...and believe it or not, knitting. I have found the perfect thing to knit with my clearance yarn and am about 8 inches into the cardi that I'm working on. It doesn't seem to be growing very fast at all. Maybe if there is still daylight when I get home I'll take a few pics. I know, I haven't had many photos here lately. I will work on that...promise.

So this past weekend I had my girls and we didn't do much. I was on call so I was kind of on a short leash. On Friday night...my mom, my girls and I ventured out for chinese food. Well on our way out of the restaurant I saw a Canada goose about 5 cars down from where I was parked. So thinking that he would fly off, I went in the direction of the goose. Lo and behold, that goose attacked my car. He was pecking at my headlights and hissing. So he must have been guarding a nest or his female friend. I had to back up and go another direction other than what I was going. Crazy goose!

Besides having to go into the office on Saturday to off load freight wasn't what I looked forward to doing. YAY! (me rolling my eyes) So after that and a stop to eat breakfast it was off to Wally world for food. Then I had to spend 2 hours at the laundromat to wash a huge gazebo cover and drop it at its new owners place. The rest of the weekend was spent at home. Doing laundry and a bunch of nothing else. All day Sunday we stayed home. My girls were so bad on Saturday that I didn't think they deserved to go do anything fun on Sunday...so we just sat at home. I think they needed a little bit of reality thrown back at them for being ungrateful. Hope it worked.

Okay, I've got to get back to work now. It's been kinda slow today. But I have a few things to do.

I LOVE the clearance bin at Heavenly

So on Thursday evenings I work at Heavenly Creations. A lovely little shop located in Grandview Heights. Well, this past Thursday...I found some beautiful aran weight yarn in an eggplant deep rich purple color. And since I couldn't do much this weekend I think I have found the perfect cardi/coat. So yesterday I did a swatch. Yep, you heard correctly. I did a swatch. I started with a US7, then a US8, and then even a US9. Well, after all of that I discovered that I had been looking at the wrong thing and my swatch with US7's is perfect. So my clearance bin find will be a cardi for me...hopefully. Now where did I put that measuring tape? Off to find it since the move.

Can I Be Done Yet?

Okay, the unpacking is coming along. Just a little slower than I had anticipated. I just wanna be done.

Last Thursday while working at Heavenly Creations I helped a customer who actually lives right down the street from me. So she came over last night so I could help her with her knitting project. You just don't know how good it felt to sit down and talk about knitting instead of unpacking. Thank you Michelle! I enjoyed your visit and I can't wait to see your finished project.

Time to unpack and reorganize

Ok, so yesterday was the end of moving stuff from one place to the next. Now comes the time where everything gets to be unpacked and put in the place where it belongs. And in this new place, the girls are having some issues with volume control. Now don't get me wrong. It's not like they were super loud at my other place...just when they come home from their dad's, it's like all they do is yell over there. Geesh! My head hurts for the first hour or so when I get them back. And the fact that right now they would rather stay at his house so they don't have to unpack. Don't blame them there. I told them it was only fair though, seeing as I packed almost everything. It's time for them to help me, then they admitted that it was nice not to have to pack. So most of the time, until they get off track, they are actually putting things away and emptying boxes and such. Ahhhh! Soon, there will be sanity. I can't wait.

And on the knitting front...I have temporarily grounded myself from any knitting until everything is unpacked and put away. Seems to be working so far. Moving through things pretty quickly.

Out of sorts

Ok, since the beginning of this year I have had alot on my mind...ALOT!!! Even more than just knitting. And I think I'm starting to get a handle on it. I have decided that when my lease is up at the end of this month that I will be moving to my mothers. This will put me in a place where I can financially get back on my feet and in a year or so be able to get a house. And be able to go on my first actual vacation with my girls and afford many, many other things. Did I mention that I love my mom? She's the greatest!

So, with this being said...it has upset a few people. But my girls come first and they will just have to deal with it. As for my girls??? They are overjoyed that we are staying at grandma's. But what this means now is that I have to move furniture from 2 different locations into one. And find a home for my African Gray Congo (bird). Just because my mom is insistent that I down size from 2 birds to 1. So Miss Gypsy will have to go.

Now if you remember, I have shared a large half double with Miss Tonia for 2 years and she is also moving. She is moving less then 3 minutes from where our current place is and I'm moving about 5 minutes away from it. So needless to say, we won't be that far from each other still. Yay, that means she can still help me when I need stuff done to my hair and I will always be there to help her. She's my knitting buddy. We could sit in the living room and just knit for hours, it was great! Looking back over the past 2 years, it has been great. All the funny memories and if someone were actually recording our lives they would have some awesome out takes. The kids in the house were just down right hilarious most of the time. They always made us laugh. Kids are great!

Ok, as for actual knitting content...I have been working on an Irish Hiking Scarf. I am using Lorna's Laces shepherd worsted weight in the colorway "watercolors". I want it super long so it can be doubled over and I am on my third and final skein. And I have a few other things on the needles. I have taught myself the sock on 2 circs method and now want to learn the toe up method on 2 circs. I've never done a toe up sock and want to learn soon. That way I get the most out of a ball of yarn. I don't like having that little ball left over. You can only imagine how many of those things I have running around in my stash.

My Swift!

Sooooo, for Christmas, my aunt and uncle (what awesome family members) gave me a gift card for Joann Fabrics. $20 to be exact. So since Christmas I have shopped and stared and drooled over the wooden yarn swift that they have online. So this past Friday I gave into it and decided I had to have it. And since I had a 50% off coupon plus the $20 gift card...I didn't fork out much at all. I am now a very proud owner of my very own wooden yarn swift. YAY! And I had it shipped to me at work. Now I just wanna go home and play. Hurry up day and be over already!

Ok, so I work with Miss Tonia and we both stalk Ravelry like no tomorrow all day long. And she calls me over to her desk to look at this AWESOME bag that is on izodgrrl (ravelry name). I soooooo want one, or two, heck...maybe three. Perfect for carrying around a small project like a sock or something and just adorable as heck.

Izodgrrl got her's at a local store near her called TripQuipment. They do not have a website...yet. But their phone number is 207~781~7770. Ms. Tonia called and spoke directly to Sam (very nice man) and he is willing to ship them. Now I have checked a few other sites for this exact bag and either it is sold as a set or if it is sold seperately it is more than what Sam would charge. Sam at TripQuipment said he sells them individually or I'm pretty sure if you want the whole set that could be an option too.

Need to blog more often. I have been slacking for quite some time now. I really do apologize!

On the knitting front, I do have a few things on the needles. 1. The Hemlock Ring Blanket and 2. An Irish Hiking Scarf. I will post pics soon. Like, maybe when the sun decides to come back out and make me smile. Hurry up spring. It's only supposed to be in the teens this coming weekend. Brrrrrrrrrr!!!

And, at the end of February my lease is up and Miss Tonia and I are parting ways (sniff, sniff). Life has been a blast for the past 2 years but we are outgrowing our space and need room to spread out. Trust me, I will still be stopping in to visit her new residence and she is always welcome to come to mine. So, in the near future I'm sure you will see new pics of our new places on our blogs once again.

Ok, not much else going on in my little piece of the world. I hope everyone in blogland is okay.

Well, here it is...Christmas day and I sit all alone waiting for my girls to call and say "come get us!" They spent last night with their dad. They did however spend all of yesterday with me. Making cookies and the icing and adding the sprinkles on each and every of the 50+ cookies we decorated. They did such a great job. Then to boot. They helped me finish dinner. Which was a thick and hearty midwest ham chowder. It resembles the O'Charley's cheesy potatoe soup...but mine has ham and cream of corn in it. YUM YUM!!! Plus, mines made from scratch. The best ever.

I sit here with the phone clenched in my hands waiting for my girls to call. I can't wait to get time with them and have them open their gifts from Santa. Santa made my living room a little impossible to walk through with bikes, so they need to get here soon.

Well, the main reason for taking a few minutes today is to wish you and your a Merry, Merry Day! However you may celebrate it. Just be happy! I'm thankful every year that I make it through this day in every aspect of it. I'm fortunate to have a great family and awesome friends. Without them, life just wouldn't flow. Yes, there are a few bumps along the way, but today is a day to overlook those things.

Searching for the impossible!!!

Okay, so I saw an awesome pattern on Ravelry not to long ago and que'd it so that I had the information on the pattern and such. Well, today I got curious as to how much the book is going to cost me. OMG!!! This book is extinct! No longer available, and the people who have it obviously know that they have the motherlode in their hands. The lowest price I found today $289 plus shipping. YIKES! And that's not an error! $289 flippin bucks. I like the pattern but not for that much!

So, if anyone has a copy and would like to loan it to me for a few, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of it for the St. Brigid pattern. Thanks!

Silly puppies

Okay, I know that this my knitting blog and yes, there are 2 FO's that I need to wash and block and then I promise to post the pics. PROMISE!!!

But for now, I just wanted to share with you just how funny my dogs are. So without anymore delay...here we go.

Aren't they a hoot? Zoey (black lab) is about 9 to 10 months old. She tries so had to be good, but that puppy in her just has to be bad sometimes. As for the other one, Buttercup, my bassett/sharpei mix. She's 8 years old and just as good as gold.

Hope you got a laugh out of them. They are hilarious.

Wow, time sure is speeding by...

I cannot believe it's already November. Seems like yesterday it was just spring. Geesh! Thanksgiving will be here in no time flat.

Not that I've said anything about it, but I picked up a part time job at one of my LYS's. I am working at Heavenly Creations! I work every Thursday and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. I started last Thursday and think I'm gonna like it.

On the knitting front, I've been working on a baby dress. It was intended for my cousin who is pregnant. She has 2 little boys already so I was knitting in pink in hopes of a little girl. You know...baby girl knitting mojo? Well, it didin't work, sigh! So I'll finish it and keep it around until I find someone to give it to. Here are a few pics of it "in progress".

I'm pretty sure that I might have mentioned that I was knitting something for my cousin in pink since she found out she was pregnant. And...since she has 2 little boys already, I was knitting in pink to help for hopes of a girl. Well, that didn't work. The doctor says it's a boy. DARNIT!!! So, I will finish the little pink dress and then move onto something blue for her newest member of the family. That is of coarse once I get over my fit of rage with the sleeves. I went to attach the first one and had some issues and ripped it back out. So once I get un-mad...I'll get it finished then take pics and show you. I'll have to admit, it is really cute. And if any of you have any ideas what to knit for a boy please leave me comments. I could use all the help possible. Since I don't have boys, I find it harder to find something to knit for them.

Lazy Daize

Wow, I have been in a bit of a lazy blogger mode. I have been knitting, just lazy about posting on it. Sorry blogland.

Well, shortly after I finished my monkey socks...I found out that my cousin was pregnant and started knitting in pink in hopes that it would help for the outcome of a girl when she went to find out. Seeing that she already has 2 little boys, I thought it was only fair that it was time for a little girl. She even wore pink from head to toe and all of her accessories were pink too the day she was to find out. I will have you know, that none of it worked. She is having a little boy (again) and now that my something pink is almost complete, I might as well finish it...right? (Sigh) So I'll share pics once the something pink is finished. Just gotta finish the sleeves and edging on the neck, so it won't be long...k?

And in other news. Come February 2008, I will be moving. Miss Tonia and I have been room mates for 2 years come that time and friends for even way longer than that and have decided that it's time to move on. In the time that we've shared this space, there has never been one major fight or arguement. C'mon, we're almost like sisters. Each of us both having 2 girls and a small zoo all slammed into one big space made for an interesting life. Most of the time it was just laughs. From the initial move in days, to sewing what seemed like a million corn hole bags, to random dinners and more. It has been great! I'm glad we were able to help each other during this time...but now? On to bigger and better things!!!

Ok, ok, back to knitting now. Talk with you later when I have pics of my something pink. Then after that, I'll start on something blue.

Oh, and I almost forgot. I'm still stalking my Ravelry invite. I still have over 7,000 people in front of me. So, not much longer and I'll be a part of this awesome thing called Ravelry. Can't wait!

Drumroll Please....

I have FINALLY finished my monkey socks. Little by little they grew each week. Even with very little knitting mojo for some reason. I have accomplished my monkey socks. And they are such a great fit. I love them, and they are allllllll mine.

Specs: Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn a gift from my Hurricane Swap Party pal (mentioned here) on Crystal Palace US2's. And of coarse the Monkey Sock pattern in Knitty's Winter 2006.

Now, that I've completed my monkies...I can now start on yet another baby gift. This baby isn't due for a while and I'm starting it in pink (even though it's not confirmed) but she already has 2 boys....I'm starting the girly mojo now! And if it's a boy then I'll just make something else. Knitting baby things are so neat. Wish my girls were still little.

Home again, home again, jiggady jig...

Ok, the business trip to Hermosa Beach, Ca was a blast. Yes, I worked all day Monday through Thursday, but once our office day was done the night life was great.

Monday night we went to the Bluewater Grill. I ordered crab cakes, and as crazy as it sounds...I've never had crab cakes. Yes, I know...I live a sheltered life! All I can say is YUM!

Tuesday, after a long days work...WHEW! We went to the Cheesecake Factory. I had the orange chicken. My lord that's alot of food for one person. And then we ordered dessert to go. I had never been here before, and there's one in my neck of the woods. I will definitely be visiting it soon though. YUM YUM!

Wednesday we were supposed to go fend for ourselves. HA, NOT!!! We all ended up at Hennessey's Tavern. They have great appetizers and drinks.

And then Thursday night after our final day at the office, we went to the Italy's Little Kitchen. I had lobster alfredo and a glass of Chiante, and ended the night with a cappuccino. And needless to say, that thing was loaded. I was on a caffine high for hours afterwards.

Oh yeah, I had never had lobster before either. Yes, I do live a seriously sheltered life. But, I got to live a little in Hermosa Beach, CA. I took some pics and here are a few for you to see...

Headed to California...

For business! Ok, sitting at the airport for a flight to LAX (Los Angeles, CA). Anxious, nervous and excited all at once. My nerves are shot! I don't care to much for planes...only been on a few. Just don't like the feeling of not being in control. I know, I know....WEIRD! But that's just me. Gave all my kisses and hugs to everyone that matters and here I sit. Sweating it out. I hate being nervous for that reason. So that's why I arrived earlier than most. So I could sit down, and chill out. Maybe another half an hour and I'll be good to go...

I have never been to California, so this will be an experience all in it's own. I WILL BE visiting the Pacific...come hell or high water. I will get to the beach! I have promised myself that one. And I plan to take lots of pics. (hopefully)

Well, I'm going to dig into my little knitting bag and start my second monkey sock right now. Help get my mind off all the happenings around me.

Just Monkey-ing Around...

Ok, so I've been a little slow to start something new since the baby sweater. But I have alot on my plate right now. Like a little business trip to the west coast. Yep, you read it with your own two eyes...I am going to California! YAY!!! I have NEVER been before so this is exciting for me...Not to crazy about the whole flying thing, but I'll get over it. I plan to take lots of pics (hopefully) and some knitting. I want to start my very first lace project. I have found the perfect pattern, now I just have to find my yarn. I think I'm going to go with something from Knit Picks just because it fits my budget right now. I'm going to keep the pattern a bit of a mystery for now just in case it turns out to be a total flop (doubt it). I'm not one for trying the simple things to begin with so I am going to jump in with both feet and not look back. Just like me with learning how to do cables. I chose one of the harder patterns to begin with. The Rogue! So I'm not one to try simple things first.

Also, I went into my LYS for a knitters night out and heard that they may be hiring part time help. Sounds like my cup o' tea. I let them know I was interested...now I just have to wait and see. "Pay me in yarn please!"

Yep, if you guessed Monkey, you got it right. And I decided to go with a short row heel for a change. I haven't done one in a while so I felt up to the minor challenge of trying to remember how to. I think my memory was pretty good this time around. LOL!

Ok, now don't get any ideas...I AM NOT having a baby...but a friend of mine is pregnant and I haven't had the pleasure of making a knitted baby anything yet. Since my girls are older baby stuff is no where near my future. So without further ado....

And here it is in all it's glory! Not bad for my first raglan ever. And the matress stitch made the seaming a breeze. Mind you, I did knit the majority of it in the one piece method...even the sleeves. I DO NOT like to seam so it helps.

Specs: Pattern from Simple Knits for Chereished Babies by Erika Knight. I used Jaeger Aqua Cotton in color #303/Herb. Then of coarse cute little buttons that I found at JoAnn's.

My Hurricane Sock Party 2007 Package

First and foremost...a great big THANK YOU!! to Cassi you rock!!!

This is what the mailman brought to my house on Saturday...man oh man, was my dog going off when he came to the door. Sometimes she works better than a doorbell...*giggle*

And here are all the goodies that were inside of that big ol box...

As far as yummies go...GIRL YOU ROCK!!! Mesquite BBQ Pringles (almost gone), Starburst (just opened them), and Twix PB's (gone...the girls scarfed them)

Yarn? Oh yes, there is yarn. Gloss in Concord Grape (for my sock) which by the way...I almost bought this magazine earlier this week just for the pattern you used on my sock...LOVE IT!!! A skein of Tomas Tilley 60% silk yarn...YUM!!!, and 2 skeins of Cherry Tree Hill one in the Earth colorway and the other is nameless as of yet...but I'll find the name out soon enough. And then I got the mag I almost bought myself...Interweave Knits and a Vogue Knitting Socks book.

This is how my Tuesday afternoon went...

(phone rings at work and I answer)

me: Blah Blah Company...can I help you?

The ex: Meet me at Childrens Hospital...Elizabeth needs stitches!

me: WHAT !?!?!?!

The ex: Yeah, she got hit above the eye with a hard plastic egg or something.

me: Ummm, ok...a plastic egg can cause someone to need stitches...?

The ex: I'm headed there right now...just meet me!

me: On my way! See you there!

and this is the lovely site I get greeted with by my 9 year old...

Ok, now blogger world...this gash on her eyebrow line was DEEP and huge (to me). Poor thing! I guess she was in the pool at her dads. She was under water and when she came up for air she got hit with some kind of hard plastic egg (not from easter) that her fathers girlfriends boys and their friends decided to fill with water and throw around. OUCH!!!

9 stitches later...

This is what she looked like. By the way, that is James. He was awesome!!! He talked my baby girl through the whole thing and put the numbing creme on it and then stitched her right up. 1 internal and 8 external dissolvable stitches. A total of 9 stitches for a 9 year old. I'm proud of Elizabeth...she handled it like a pro! Way to go!!!

Ok, now back to sleep since I'm up at 3 a.m. blogging about this..Hee hee!

Today when I got home, I discovered the mailman had brought me goodies! YAY!!! I love me some goodies...and when I opened the package this is what was inside (minus 2 rolls of starburst...YUM!)

I got a cute little card, measureing tape, a neat little notebook, US2 DPN's, an awesome go knit pouch, a stitch marker, and KOIGU KPPPM and 1 knit sock.

Yes, blog world...you heard right...I get to FINALLY knit with koigu!!! I am so excited! I have been eyeball'n this stuff for the longest time and now I get the honor of knitting it up. YAY! Deb, you rock!!! Thanks for an awesome package!

A bit of an update....

Ok, on Tuesday I planted some FREE hosta plants and here they are...

Now I just have to find some more to put into the empty spots...there are a couple of elephant ears inbetween the groups of hostas, so I'll have to see how they turn out this year.

In knitting news I have completed the and will be mailing this weekend hopefully the Sock Hop Sock Swap package. I am very impressed on how well this sock turned out. I really like it! Now let's hope she likes it to. *smiles*

Ok, so life has been just a wee bit hectic...between juggling 2 girls and my so called life. It gets out of hand at times. So I then have to take a break and re-adjust things. Well, so much for breaks here lately...between projects I'm finishing up and starting I don't know which way is up. I'm in 2 sock swaps and have to finish them both up pronto. So that's at the top of my list at the moment. Thank goodness I only have to make one sock for each...lol. I'm to the toe on one and the other will only take a few hours of complete and total dedication which should be no problem at all. But in the meantime, it's time to plant flowers...YAY! I love this time of year. Especially when my awesome neighbors gifted me a bunch of hostas. I hope they survive the transplant. Once I get the batteries charged for my camera I will take pics to show my progress of planting. Last year I took the cheap route and just bought impatients to go against the garage. Well I took an even cheaper route this year and planted freebies...whoo hoo! Now I just have to add a few little annuals here and there to spice it up a bit. Can't wait to share my pics. And also, once the sock pals get their packages I will post my pics of those too...Can't wait to get some goodies from other parts of the map. Always fun to receive...even better to give! Can't wait to finish...More later.

YAY! I have finished a pair of jaywalkers...a pattern by the Great Grumperina. This is an easy knit, even though I decided to be a slowpoke about the whole thing. But here they are in their glory...

I did these in Lorna's Laces in the colorway Childsplay on US 1 DPN's.

I also am in the Socks That Rock club and got my newest shipment of yummy yarn...I am in love...it is some of the prettiest colors yet that I have seen...here you judge for yourself.

Ok, that's about all I have for now...life is going good. I have started on 1 of my 2 sock swaps socks so far and am looking for the perfect yarn and pattern for the other. I hope all is well out there in blogland.

Okay, here is my Hurricane Sock Swap questionaire. Sorry it took forever and a day but I've been busy. I have contacted my secret pal but have yet to hear from mine. Maybe this will help. Sorry.

I’ve only made a few pairs for me but generally follow the pattern.

I would love to goto Austailia… I have always wanted to see the “out back”

I always have socks on unless I’m sleeping. I think my feet are ugly and wouldn’t want to scare others away. (LOL)

8. The last time the power was out during hurricane season (or bad weather of any kind) did you knit by lantern or were you lucky enough to knit to the humm of a generator? Or did you knit at all?

Well, since I live in Ohio, not much happens around here. But we do have power surges from time to time. Just this week I had to take a shower in the morning by candlelight. But at work, I have knit when the electric has went out. I actually pray for those days.

9. Make a wish for your favorite sock yarn that you've already used once. What would it be? ? Dont be shy about listing an exact colorway or two if you'd like.

I love the Claudia’s Handpainted. Anything colorful. Not to
Crazy about things mixed on white…Blah.

10. What is it about sock knitting that keeps you wanting to knit more and more socks?

They are just an addictive thing. And make for an easy travel project. Small and compact enough to carry just about anywhere.

I would love to try some of Scouts Swag. Her tarzhay and secret look fab. I like secret more though.

12. What size needles do you knit socks for YOURSELF with the most? Are they circular or bamboo needles? What brand?

I usually use US1’s or 2’s and I love my Crystal Palace Bamboo DPN’s. Couldn’t live without them.

13. If you could only take 3 yarn related books and one previously knitted project that you love with you when you evacuated what would they be?

Well books that I would love to have to take with me would be… Victorian Lace Today, Stichonary 2, and Knitting Vintage Socks. I’d have to take my Rogue since I have yet to finish it but I do love it.

14. What knitting notion do you wish you had that you just keep putting off getting for yourself?

Well of coarse the most expensive items…. Swift ad ball winder

15. What is your favorite tv show?

I would have to say Las Vegas CSI

Surprise me. I’m willing to try anything on a sock.. Just don’t care to much for cables on a sock. Small areas and cable needles don’t get along with fat fingers. LOL

17. It's midnight and the power has been off for two days, its hot, and you have a craving for something sweet! What would it be? (This is a FOOD related question ladies! LOL)

Well it would obviously be something I couldn’t have since the electric’s off… ICECREAM. Of coarse. But I’d settle for some tootsie rolls, starburst.

I really don’t have any…I live in Ohio and I don’t even have a family story to tell cuz none of my family members live in hurricane’s way. Sorry, I’m boring like that.

Anything bright and pretty. My favorite color is blue, but I love bright pinks, oranges, purples, greens, yellow. I figure if they are handmade they don’t need to be white in anyway. I can purchase those at the store

Falling off the blogosphere

Yep, I'm alive. But I've kinda been doing everything but knitting...just lost my knittin' groove I guess. I mean I have every good intention of knitting and carry it with me where ever I go but I never get to pull it out and work on it. Something always comes up.

Since it is now spring...it will soon be time to play in my flower gardens and plant new flowers and make everything look pretty. I can't wait.

Well, I just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I'm still alive and I will get back on my knitting kick here soon. I have a few swaps that I signed up for and can't wait to find a pattern to start for each of them.

Simple Dreemland

Not much going on here in Dreemland. Still knitting the same ol' sock. Kinda lost my knittin' mojo. But I did manage to get to the heel flap. But that's about it. I think I'm gonna try and get it finished soon. My whole problem right now is that I want to start on this cute little teddy bear but promised myself I wouldn't until I finished my daughter's sock. And with that being said... it's time to set the laptop down and start back up on the sock. Wish me luck. Maybe I'll finish it this weekend. Maybe???

As most of you know (if you read my blog)...last Saturday marked my 1 year of being single. Well, shortly after that I did something. No, not anything bad...but something. I won't go into it now...but it's a something that I liked and hope there is more of. (God, I love cliffhangers)

Yep, that's right. You are witnessing my very own 1st "single" year. This, my blog friends is a feat in it's own. I feel that I have grown so much over this past year. I have enjoyed time with my girls, friends and especially family. My girls and I have not really done alot but what we have done did not need any approval from their father. I never realized it before but I always had to check with him to make sure what I did was ok. I don't do that anymore. And it is GREAT! I do what I want, when I want, however I want. Wish I would have known about this before. I would have left my old relationship way before a year ago. HA! Still searching for Mister Right (if there is such a thing). But I'm not in any hurry! And to celebrate me and Miss Tonia went to the Japanese Steakhouse last night. YUMMY! I love that place.

Here's to another year of happiness...

On the knitting front...I am STILL working on Elizabeth's other Jaywalker. But I have told myself that I must finish it before I start anything else. And trust me. I really want to start this cute little teddy bear out of Simple Knits for Cherished Babies. So I really need to get to work.

Baby it's cold outside...

Wow, winter sure did decide to come late this time. It seems like we begged for the snow from Thanksgiving to Christmas and it waited until here recently to give us the full effect. I almost want to go hang my Christmas lights back out on the house. Why not? The neighbors already think I'm goofy (at least I think they do). Well anyway. Since Mr. Groundhog predicted that Spring is right around the corner...I got the gardening itch and couldn't take it anymore! Soooooo, I repotted all of my house plants and even some of my mothers. I love my plants and they obviously feel the same way about me. Just look for yourself. They are getting so big.

This is my china doll last year when I first bought it...

It went from a 4" pot to a 12" pot.

And here is my aloe plant. For some reason I cannot locate a before pic of it but if you could imagine when I first got it. It was only 3 little sprouts hangin out in a 4" pot and now look at it.

Then I got a new plant. I thought it was the neatest lookin' thing I have seen in a while so I picked it up...I was told by Miss Tonia that it's called a Lady Slipper.

Hey, who's that goofy person hiding behind the plant? Well, silly...it's it I. The keeper of this here blog. (enter evil laugh here)

Let's see what other plants did I repot???

Oh, yeah. This is a small collection of plants my mother was keeping (killing, sorry mom). So since she has a nak for making plants shrink instead of grow I insisted she bring them to me right away...

Poor little thing was barely hangin' on. Don't worry, it's already starting to regain it's strength.

Here are the recently purchased books I got...(since mean 'ol blogger ate the pics the last time I tried this)

That would be my very own copy of Viking Knits. I already see a plan in the works for possibly making the Fjorgyn for me. But I will definately be altering the sleeves. They look like choir robe sleeves. YUK!

And then last but not least...

I have a friend who is expecting and I wanted to make my first baby knitted item for her. I already purchased the yarn to make the little teddy bear but instead of cashmere I will use cotton. I also want to make the rosebud cardigan. But I will wait until she is closer to being due so she has a better chance of knowing what it is.

I also have other things going on in my life that don't need to be published at this moment but soon enough. It's a little new to me and when I'm ready I will let you know.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello blogosphere. Miss Amy here to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day. I will be staying home today since the weather outside is horrid. Here in my neck of the woods we are at a Level 2 Snow Emergency. That means if you plan on going anywhere to be very careful and please stay in if you do not have to go anywhere. So I called in today to find out that I am being charged a personal day. At this point, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

It's so bad outside and the snow is so deep that my poor puppy dog refused to step one foot in the snow. Instead she came back up onto my porch and went. I don't blame her though...I wouldn't want to dip my exposed rear end into that deep snow either. Later in the evening yesterday when we went back outside for the final time of the night, I had to break a path through the yard before she would even step foot out there. She was light enough that she was walking on top of the layer of ice over the 4-6 inches of snow.

Not that I actually celebrate this Hallmark Holiday but this will be #2 as a single person. Last year I still lived with my ex but he spent this day with his "girlfriend".

WOW! Looking back through my archives is wild. As of February 24th, 2007. I will have been on my own for a year. I have survived! Whoo Hoo! And I'll be completely honest...it hasn't always been easy. But you know what? I wouldn't change it for anything.

Being a single mother of 2 is great. I enjoy doing my own thing and not having to answer to anyone. It's been great doing for myself and all but sometimes I would like to have someone to share time with. You know...when the kids are with their dad and his girlfriend and her 2 boys. It has been a year. Maybe someday I will find someone. You never know.

As for knitting content (since this is my knitting blog). I haven't finished my daughter's jaywalkers yet. For some reason I just haven't been in the mood to knit. Maybe today I will work on them. The first one turned out great and fits her perfect. She is really excited to have a pair of mom knitted socks. Maybe here in a little bit I'll take pics of my new knitting books. Yes, I said books. Yes, that means I'll be reading. I think this past year I have read more than ever. Between blogs and patterns I have read alot of interesting things. So thanks blog family, for keeping me interested. C-ya!

I know, I know. Asking way to early in the week...but I really want Friday to come. The weekends here lately just haven't been lasting as long as I would like them to.

Whoo Hoo! Count me in!!!

In November of last year (I think), I signed up the the Socks That Rock Club for 2007. Or precertification as it is called. So once I was signed up all that was left to do was pay in January 2007. Well, I did that on 1/5/07. On 1/8/07 I checked my bank account and showed where I had paid the amount needed and then a deposit back into my account of that same amount. WHAT?!?! I thought I was dreaming. You know, such awesome yarn and they were giving me the Club for free? Whoo Hoo! Then I read an email that Blue Moon sent that stated that their bank (which they would not name)thought that the Blue Moon Company was running a yarn scam. The bank obviously did not realize just how many yarn addicts are in the world. And when they saw the same amount of money over and over they froze the account and reimbursed all customers. So, now Blue Moon fixed the online site and now everything is happy honky dory. So COUNT ME IN! I have paid my dues and should get my first goodie package from Blue Moon in February. I am sooooooo excited! I just can't wait!!

Also, I see a computer of my very own in my near future. As I got a nice return from the IRS and that is one gift I promised myself. Hurry up return and hit my bank. YAY me!

I'm sure I'll be posting soon. I am almost done with a pair of socks for me. They are turning out great!

Friday Night Knitter

This past weekend my girls were with their father. Sooooo, I decided that I was going to take my happy butt to the "Knitter's Night Out", held every 2nd Friday of every month at Heavenly Creations, one of my lovely LYS's. I took my
sock that I am currently working on (I'll post pics later) and Miss Tonia took a footie she was working on. Had a good time. The place was packed. So packed, that I ended up sharing a bench with a very nice lady who was crocheting with a steele and seed beads (yikes, tiny stuff) and Miss Tonia ended up on a kiddy chair. Later we ended up in two of the more comfy spots in the middle of the room. That was nice.

Once we were done there we decided to go "out". So we ended up at a place called City Limits. We played a few games of pool (aka: moving the balls around the table) and had a couple of drinks. Well, after the drinks set in we started to get hot, plus the fact that the place just wasn't hoppin' we left. So then we decide to go home and change into lighter shirts so we don't get so hot and went to Rackum's, another bar. We walked in, got a stamp to verify we were old, went to the restroom and left. That place was dead and full of nothing but older people just sitting around. So we headed out to Lucky's, yet another bar. Where we stayed for the remainder of the evening drinking, laughing and playing pool (still just moved the balls around the table). Once we closed the place we had to go get breakfast. Where else of coarse? Tee Jay's. We were there almost before most the the bar scene was, so we got our food pretty fast and got outta there before it got to loud and crazy.

I'm not one that is much for the bar scene, but it was kinda nice to do something out of the ordinary. I usually am one to keep to myself and stay home. Sometimes it would be nice to have someone to snuggle with when I stay home but I don't think I want that full time yet. I haven't even went out on a date yet, and at the end of February will be 1 year that I've been single. I was in the last relationship for near 13 years, with the father of my 2 girls. I don't want that kind of relationship again. So I will definately take my time finding exactly what I want. I'll call it my shopping time.

But I definately need to go out and practice my pool playing skills. I used to have a pool table in my basement and was what I considered myself to be an ok player. I even have my own stick (not a cheap one either). But Friday night I just played slop and bad slop at that. I can usually call the shot I'm aiming for. Maybe the alcohol had something to do with it. Yeah, not enough! Hah!

Okay, let's see if blogger will work with me...

First off, here are a few pics of the "Go Bucks" gloves that I made for my godmother. They started out as this 50 gram ball of Lorna's Laces in OSU (I think that's the name) colorway.

Then it became this awesome pair of gloves. What's that? Oh, you want to see the cable up close? Okay...

I'm pretty proud of these. I have a few others that I have made including a pair of fingerless gloves but these are my favorites.

And this is what I had left of that 50 gram ball of yarn once the gloves were done.

Okay, since Christmas is long gone I can now show the pics of my mom and her special gift from me that brought tears to her eyes as she read the card that I wrote...

HA! She usually makes me cry with her sentimental gifts. Well this year it was my turn. She loved it. And so did the rest of my family.

Here is a picture of my skinny Christmas tree. I just love the star... This star has a little history. You see, that star was the very first star that my mom and dad had on their Christmas tree when I was little. It used to have a color wheel inside and once it heated up it would spin and it would give the room a disco effect. I always thought it was the coolest thing. So this star is at least 30 years old and still works. The cord and everything (except the bulb of coarse) is all original.

Piss Poor Mood

You ever have one of those days? I am just sitting at my desk and my blood is boiling. And have absolutely no reason as to why I feel this way. Except that lovely time...you know the one...every month. There is not a person on the face of this earth that has done anything to piss me off and I am sure the first one to even try would get head ripped off and shoved up their a$$. I am trying to sit at my desk quietly and not disturb anyone. Do you realize how hard that is since I am the one who usually is full of wise cracks? VERY HARD!!! But for fear something god awful mean would blurt out I don't chance it. I just want to go home and be mean all by myself. Thank goodness the kids are at their dad's this weekend. I hate being in "a mood" when I have them. My "mood" and my kids just don't get along to well.

In knitting news I have been a little burnt out here lately and have made several cross stitch ornaments for my Christmas tree. I have many on my tree and each one is dated with what year they were made. As I was taking my tree down last night I was looking at the years in which the ornaments were made and they date all the way back to 1990. WOW! I was only 14 years old when I started making them.

Along with all of the other pics that I owe my blog family...maybe I will try to take some pics of my cross stitch ornaments and post them too. Nuttin' like addin' to my list of things to do.

If I don't get to post before the new year, ya'll have a safe one...K?

I have received my Harvest Sock Swap package all the way from....Singapore! I will post pics later. As I am still quite busy trying to get mine out the door to the very special person I am sending it to. (I am such a slacker) No really, this year December crept right up behind me. I have had everything ready since the end of November and had every intention of mailing it out then but then I decided to add just a bit more. So since the plan is to mail it Wednesday during my lunch hour I hope it gets there quick. (did I mention I'm a slacker?)

So I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Chrissie. Thanks for the great package and awesome sock.

Wow, talk about a long time...

I knew it had been awhile since my last blog entry but WOW, I didn't realize just how long ago that was. Sorry folks. Life seems to be busy here in Dreemland. You know the drill...kids, Christmas, knitting. I can't wait until Christmas is over so I can not be "so broke" anymore. My 8 yr old is on the fence with the whole Santa issue. Yes, I do enjoy the surprise in her eyes when she wakes up on Christmas and sees the gifts that magically appeared for her and her sister... but I know that's going to end soon so I am trying to prepare myself. Plus that only means that the gifts my girls request only get more expensive. YIKES!

On the knitting front...I have been knitting. Since I have completed my Central Park Hoodie I have been knitting gloves. I will have to take some pics and show you. Granted I have been taking my time about them, they still are turning out good. I have to finish just a few small things for my Harvest Sock Swap Pal and I should be mailing out here soon. I STILL have not even heard one word from my Harvest Sock Swap person. I'm beginning to think that I have been forgotten about. Knitting has been slow since I have been commissioned by my uncle to sew broken items for him. A few weeks ago, the zipper on his leaf bag for his leaf vacuum broke. So I took the old one out and replaced it with a longer zipper so that way when it was unzipped it went all the way around the corner of the bag and let all of the leaves out. You would think the manufacturer of this thing would have thought about that...guess that was just too simple. He likes it so much that he wants me to do the other bag the same way once he finds it. I am now working on something else for him but I don't know what they are so I'm not even going to try to explain something I don't even know what they are. I was instructed to sew a seam around all 4 sides of a rectangular pc of fabric, fold it over and sew only one side. WHATEVER! As long as it makes him happy. And since I have been sewing a little again, I might make a few Christmas tree skirts for gifts. I have plenty of Christmas themed fabric...We'll see.

Oh, yeah. My African Grey Congo (bird) who is around 1 1/2 or 2 yrs old is getting smarter by the day. Not only does she make great impersonations of many household appliances she also has figured out how to remove her metal food and water bowls from the metal rings they sit in. So I have to now drill holes into the bowls and use dog leash clips to secure them into the metal rings. I need to borrow my neighbors drill so I can make this happen. She has the intellect of a 5 year old and a vocabulary that keeps growing. She yells for my dog (Buttercup) all day long. Poor dog probably goes crazy while I'm at work.

I'll post pics later when I get somewhere I can download them. Hopefully at income tax time I will be able to afford myself a laptop.

Central Park Hoodie

This is my first ever completed sweater. This is the "before blocking" picture. I used Encore worsted weight as it is completely washable and dryable. This is the only way my mom will accept it. And since it is a Christmas gift for her...that's the way I made it. I now am searching for the perfect buttons and once it's blocked and the buttons are sewn on I will wrap it. (That way I don't get any crazy ideas to give it to her early). Here are the pictures of the front and back. Enjoy! I am currently working more Christmas gifts. I will post pics of those as I finish them.

Sleeve Island

Wow! I feel as if I have been knitting sleeves forever! After this I don't think I will ever complain about having Second Sock Syndrome again. I have completed my first sleeve...obviously since it's pictured in my previous post and am working on my second one. I am now a little over half way done. Thank goodness we only have 2 arms. If we had anymore I'd have to hang it up. This is on my Central Park Hoodie. I definately want to finish it before the KAL is cut off on December 15th. Plus the fact that it is a present makes it even more important. I have planned to start many other projects but have put them on hold as I want my knitting mojo for my CPH.

In other news, I have graphed out a sock pattern and now just need to test knit it to make sure what I put on paper looks the way I want it to on the real thing. I never thought that little 'ol me could ever do such a thing. Hmmmm, I wonder what else I can get into??? This thought may have to wait a little bit since I have Christmas gifts galore to make. Some knit and some sewn...if I get that far.

I am still working on my a few small things for my Harvest Sock Swap pal. I hope she enjoys them. And have yet to hear from mine. Maybe someday soon though. (sigh)

Your CPH looks great. Quicky question tho - I'm casting on the left front in the largest size and the directions don't give me a ribbed hem, but rather a weird moss/seed hem - did you have this problem?

Thank you for the compliment on my CPH. The problem I believe you are having is that if you are starting on the right side with a K2, P2...when you turn to the wrong side you are still doing a K2, P2 instead of doing a P2, K2 on the wrong side. To correct the error make sure that on the RS you are K2, P2 and the WS you are P2, K2. This will line the ribbing up instead of making a weird moss looking thing. Happy frogging ;D

I will get to a computer that likes my camera this weekend and post pumpkin pics. They turned out real good.

Nuttin' but knittin'

Good Monday to all!

Here's a little recap of my weekend...

Friday evening I started my first sleeve for my CPH.

Saturday morning, after getting the ribbing done and 30 rows of cable on the sleeve, I sat back and thought to myself...I could knit this on circs. Soooooooo, I frogged the whole sleeve and cast on on small circs. YEAH RIGHT! Where was my brain. Since I'm doing the largest CPH it says to cast on 54 sts that means you start with a K2 and end with a K2. That way, when you seam it you lose 1 knit stitch on each side so it looks like it's suppose to. Well, I took out 2 sts to fix the fact that 4 knit sts would be sitting together (YUK) and so I cast on 52 sts on a circ. Again, YEAH RIGHT! 52 sts are impossible on even the smallest circ I own and for some reason I could not fatham the thought of doing the sleeve on straights again. But at the same time as you are probably sitting there reading this your brain is saying...DPN's, DPN's. Well, that's not what my brain was thinking. I was so frustrated with myself for frogging the sleeve that I walked away from it for the day. Later in the day I realized that I could knit it on DPN's but then still couldn't work on it 'cause I needed US 6's and I didn't own a set. ARGH! So I had to go hunt down a set and all I could find at after 5 p.m. on Saturday were Clovers (EWWWW). So I gave in and got them... but they are going back! I DON'T LIKE THEM!!! I feel like I'm knitting with dowel rods.

on Sunday I sat at most points of the day and knit my CPH sleeve in the round. AAAHHHHH! Even with the increases it is very easy to knit in the round. I will have to take some pics to show you. Once I get to the sleeve cap I will go back to straight needles. But I am trying to keep as many sts as live sts. I plan to pick the sts up around the armhole and do a 3 needle bindoff.

Ok, enough about my CPH...now onto my Harvest Sock Swap news.

I still have yet to hear from my pal. Not even a hello note to let me know they're out there. (Sob, sniff) So if you are out there pal....Hi! It's Amy, your pal. (me waving my hand)

I was going to send my pal's stuff out this past weekend but I found something else that I want to make and send in my SECRET package. So it will be just a bit longer. Sorry pal.

That's about it for now. I have tomorrow off from work so hopefully I'll get some more of my CPH done. I really want to finish it. It is for a gift for Christmas. I hope she likes it.

Update on my CPH

Here is my current progress on my Central Park Hoodie. Yes, I know...the picture is a little dark, but that's what happens when the weather is cold and gloomy. I just have to complete the center back and then I can start on the hood.

I have also seen a few stash flashes of sock yarn stash. So here goes...

I know, I know. A bit on the little side, but I'm happy with it. And no the colorway that I used for my Harvest Sock Swap is not in this picture. I should hopefully be able to send that out this coming weekend.

Knit the pounds away

On Friday the 13th I cast on for my Harvest Sock Swap sock. I got the cuff and the first repeat done. And then on Saturday, before I went to bed I had the sock completely done. Whoo Hoo! Now I just gotta find some goodies to send with it and get it in the mail. I so love this sock. I honestly believe that this is the best lookin' sock I have yet to knit. And to boot...this was the first time EVER that I knit a heel gusset. Let me just tell you...the instruction were Amy proof. And, this was the first time EVER that I followed a sock pattern from beginning to end. THAT ROCKS!!! And the colors. Well, I can't get into that as my sock is a secret and will be revealed in due time. I just hope that my pal loves it as much as I do. Don't worry pal. This is a quick knit and you'll be wearing a pair of awesome socks in no time.

As for the title of this post. Did you know that knitting all weekend long causes weight loss. Don't know how...but I've managed to lose 7 lbs this weekend and the only muscles that I believe got any kind of workout are my fingers from knitting. But where ever those pounds went they can stay. I don't want them back! And I didn't miss a meal at all this weekend. Hmmmmmmm.

My Central Park Hoodie is growing. The pattern calls for 14" in length but I want mine longer so that's what I'm working on now. I want about 17" from the armpit down. That should happen tonight and I'll start on the armhole decreases.

I'll leave you with a picture I took outside my bedroom door. My bedroom being at the back of the house walks out onto the back deck and this is what I saw...

The leaves were just getting ready to change colors. This was taken back near the beginning of October.

Here are my Missy's Lobster Pot Socks totally complete...

I found this really cool program on my mom's computer that completely took all of the shadows out of the picture and really turned up the color. I REALLY like this pic. I made my daughter put them on and lay on the bed with her feet up in the air in front of my vertical blinds so her feet look a little wonky (at least to me they do) . But the color is completely true. This is yarn from my stash. It's sockotta and I don't have the colorway as this was my first purchase in sock yarns. I finally used it. YAY!

Just Another Day Here In Dreemland

Hello blogland. Seems to me that I am stuck in some kind of rut. Life wise that is. I'm beginning to feel as I do not have a life other than my kids and knitting...not that it's a bad thing BUT interaction with people in general is definately lacking. I feel that I carry more conversation with my kids and animals rather than people. Kinda scary if you think about it. Especially since I'm beginning to think my bird is a male bird and likes hitting on me and my room mate.

Saturday as we were knitting and watching the OSU game, my bird Gypsy starts throwing food at Miss Tonia. Then starts talking..."Come here", "Give me a kiss (bird makes smootching sound)", "Hi", "Can I pet you?" and then Gypsy starts whistling the cat calls. I never noticed until Saturday that my bird sounds like a perv. Most of the things she picks up and repeats are cute until you put them all together like that. She also repeats my dog's name over and over and calls for her all day long. My poor dog Buttercup probably sits at home all day going insane trying to figure out who is saying her name. "Butter, come here", "Butter, bed" and then she whistles for her and makes a snapping sound as if someone were snapping their fingers at the dog. Poor puppy dog.

Oh, yeah. On the knitting front...I have the perfect pattern for something I am working on but I just cannot locate anyone that has the magazine it is in. So if any of you that read this blog have the IK Winter '05 I need something out of it. PLEEEEEZ! If the price is right I might be willing to buy it if someone is willing to sell it. Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if maybe there is hope for me. I have been searching ebay with no luck. I'll keep trying though. Hopefully tonight I'll get my pictures downloaded of my Central Park Hoodie and a pair of socks that I have completed. I am still searching for the perfect pattern for my Harvest Sock Swap pal. I have the yarn, it's a yarn she states she hasen't used yet. So I need to find the perfect pattern so the socks will be happy. C-ya!

Great new. I have finally taken time to upload pics into my photo bucket so I can share them with you.

To start off let's update the Central Park Hoodie...

Here is the color of green that I will be using. I decided to use Encore wool blend so that I can wash and dry it. I am doing mine in one piece as I'm not one for sewing knitted items together. I'll have an update of my hoodie once I get more that just the 2 ribby rows that I have done right now.

Next is a picture of my Rogue. I have completed the body and hood and now have to work on the sleeves. Wish me luck.

Please excuse the little holes on the front as I will be fixing those. As you can tell I'm still a little new to the whole pattern work thing but I have since learned if you twist the stitch you won't have holes. (Trust me, I've tried it and it works).

Where I live we have this cute little art festival called Arts in the Alley and my eldest, Renae, had a picture in the art show. I am so proud of her.

Just in case you can't figure it out...it's a fish bowl sitting on a table with very decorative wallpaper.

I caught her completely off guard. She was right in the middle of doing a cheer. Hee Hee!

FROG!!!

Well last week I started my Central Park Hoodie and got all the way through 12 rows of the pattern and decided after sitting back and staring at it for a while....something just didn't look right. So, I read through the pattern instructions a few more times and then pulled it off of the needles and FROGGED the whole thing. I was so mad at myself that I had to instantly go for a walk to cool down. As of today I still haven't casted back on but I might do that by tomorrow since I don't have to pick my girls up from their dads tomorrow. So as far as knitting content, there hasn't been much here in Dreemland.

The Harvest Sock Swap has officially kicked off and I have contacted my pal. But I have yet to hear from mine. I will in due time (hopefully). I think I found the yarn I'm going to use now I just have to find the perfect pattern.

Nuttin' much in Dreemland

Not much going on here at Dreemknits. Just the usual day to day average boring life. Yes, I have been knitting. No, I do not have pics yet. But I will show you updates of my Rogue and my Central Park Hoodie that I FINALLY started soon.

Here in my lovely little neighborhood you can definately feel the season change. I just love it. The days are cooler and the nights are cold. Perfect weather where you just need a jacket and the heat doesn't have to be on. It's time for warm comfort foods and soups and anything pumpkin. As I walk around the grocery stores they have the Halloween Candies out already and all of the decorations. I couldn't stand it any longer. I had to go home and get my Halloween goodies out and at least set out my Partylite candle goodies. They are so cute. Come the beginning of October is when I'll put some stuff up outside.

Now I have to go on the search for fabrics for my girls costumes. That is of coarse if I'm up to making them. Renae wants me to make a ball room gown for her and Elizabeth wants to be Tinkerbell. I found the perfect Tinkerbell pattern and I am still looking for a ball room gown or something that I can transform into one. I may get off easy on the gown as I have a whole bolt of free flowing black fabric that would work great. I think I'll take their measurements tonight so I have them and maybe start this weekend while they are at their dads and surprise them. They'd get a kick out of that. I'll have to find them but I'll post the pics of a couple of the other costumes I have made in years past. As most things that I find an interest in are because of an awesome friend (Miss Tonia) who has taken the time to show me the in and outs of this and many (most) of what I have become addicted to...and now she has taken a liking to spinning. She hasn't actually sat at a wheel but she has made her own drop spindle and started already. She is already speaking of a wheel that exsists in her future. Beware, I too may become addicted to that.

Sorry that I have no pics right now but I will soon enough. Now time for me to get back to work.

I Think The Mailman...

Has gotten more excercise walking to and from out door in the past month then ever in his life. Well, at least he got a break this time. Thank you Mr. UPS driver for bringing my Summer Sock Party package.

I never new a box like this above...

Could hold some of the coolest things ever. You see, in my house I am known as the "gum vampire". I can suck the flavor out of any piece of gum in less than minutes. So that box of Bazooka will last me a while. My girls LOVE their coke glasses and the light sticks on strings. Renae and Elizabeth say Thank You! And the bag in the background has sun tan lotion and after sun lotion in it. Then there's a piece of stem ware holding the rest of the yarn for the sock I'm going to make and on top of that is a pair of sunglasses. You can never have enough of those around. The yarn is something that I haven't worked with yet...and since I'm at my mother's and don't have it with me if I can recall correctly it is by yarnart and the colorway is numbered. Now let's talk about this awesome sock. I feel soooo special. My pal designed my sock pattern. I can't wait to get started on the other one. By the way...it fits perfect see...

Don't mind the background. Yup, that's right. You're looking at the ceiling. You see, I had to lay down on my bed and play contortionist to get this shot. Not bad if I say so myself. But the picture does the colors no justice. Just like my pal said. It kind of looks like bubble gum colors.

Ok, now for the other moon pic. Here it is.

The face is still there. I just think that is too neat!

Here are few pics of Miss Tonia's moon flowers out in the front by the porch. They only bloom at night and only stay open for the duration of that night and then curl up and die. Aren't they pretty?

And then I'm not really big on bugs. As a matter of fact they completely gross me out but I couldn't pass this up. It's a locust aka: katydid. Up close and personal even.

This is what we can call Mother Nature's little rump shaker. Hee Hee!

I got some honey flavored chap stick, 2 shot glasses (which I collect), dice suckers, apple flavored mints, some yummy sock yarn, US size 2 DPN's, and this cute halloween table runner. (I think she made it???) I love it all! Thank you SP8.

And now for more on my so called life...living with a sixth grader sure seems to be busy. In the first 2 1/2 weeks of school, I have went to her school for meetings more than I ever visited the school last year total. You see, Renae is wanting to join in band this year. So there are meetings galore! And yet another one tonight for a "fitting". She has to try out the instruments and see which one she feels most comfortable with. Hopefully it will be the flute or clarinet as we have both of those instruments at hand. She also wants to try the oboe. And if that's the one she chooses it will have to be the loaner from the school 'cause my butt ain't payin' for that expensive piece of metal this year!

And yet another chapter in my so called life...men! I have been single for 6 months now and still have not went on a date. Not that I'm in any kind of rush or anything but it sure would be nice just to go out and have dinner with someone and actually have a conversation with someone other than my mom, kids, or their father (yuk). I guess if I would actually expose myself to the world instead of sheltering myself in my safehaven (aka: my room) , it might actually happen. But I find myself when my girls are with their father (which is barely ever) that I sit in my room and mope. And I'll be the last person on this planet to ever ask a guy out! There is just a fear about that whole situation that I could never picture myself doing it. So who knows...maybe I'll be single forever:) No problem. It's not like I need a man to be father to my girls...they already have that. So I am looking more for me rather than us (meaning me and my girls). I don't want anything serious at this point just someone to hang out with every once in a while, you know, when my girls are with their dad. There are a couple of nice looking single men that I know...but like I said. I'm not asking!

Oh, and on the knitting front...I have slowed way down. It's like I've lost my knitting groove. All I can do at this point is just stare at my unfinished Rogue. I so badly want to finish it so I can wear it and be proud at my first sweater ever. I also have ordered my wool for the Central Park Hoodie KAL and now am just waiting on it to come in. I was reading over the pattern and by what I was looking at, it looks like a simple cable pattern so it should move pretty quick, but we'll see. It's been two weeks though and still no yarn. I have also started on a pair of fingerless gloves and got the first one finished. Mental note to self...take pic and post it. I may frog it and start over but tighten up the tension a little. But it does look nice for a first attempt. I also have the first of Elizabeth's pair of socks complete. She likes it, but I don't. Guess it's not what I think since they're not for me. She wanted a purple pair of socks with a lime green heel and a pink toe (EWWWW). So I'm half way there. Just gotta find my mojo to keep going. Oh, yeah...almost forgot. I'm thinking about dying some more yarn except this time with acid dyes. But like I said, at this point it's still just a thought.

Dear blogosphere,

I just wanted to apologize for not updating my blog on a regular basis. I have been in kind of a blog-o-rut. So just to update the world on my life...here goes.

I got candles, yarn, smelly good spray, body wash, a bar of soap, and this cool pattern to make a little bag to hold a sock in progress.

Love it and hate it at the same time...

Ok, most of you know if you have read earlier blog entries that I am a single mother of 2. Well the conditions between me and the X are for the most part ok. Since I moved out in February, he has moved in one girl and her son and moved them right back out and now has another woman living with him and her two sons. Well, my X decided that he wanted to take our girls to Geauga Lake and of coarse the rest of the misfits that live with him. So this past Saturday, after he got done working at the race track he came and picked them up. Since racing is an all day event at Columbus Motor Speedway, he was at my house to pick them up around 11:30-midnight. My girls were super excited to go to Geauga Lake, they didn't care who went with them. Well, that's the part that I love. I love that they enjoy spending time with their father and I love having my peace and quiet and sanity for a few days. But at the same time I hate when they go because I miss them. Yeh, it's nice that they get to spend time with their dad...but I just can't stand not having them around me. I know, I know. Some day I'll have to let them go but for now I'm not gonna. Well anyway, they just got back home last night around 9:30 p.m. and it was great to see them. They had plenty of rollercoaster stories for me. I'm glad they had fun.

On the knitting front...not much going on here. I have been working (slowly) on my Rogue. So far I have completed all of the knitting in the round and straight knitting up the back and I am now working through the pattern in the front. It's become a challenge to remember what I am doing on the wrong side vs. the right side. I now know what it feels like to be completely engulfed in a project. All I know is that I am going to have this done before fall so I can wear it this year. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. But at the same time I am also trying to complete a cute little pair of socks for my youngest and find yarn for my Central Park Hoodie KAL.

One of these days I'll get to my moms to download pics so until then...C-ya

Your Christmas theme was a hit with me. I really enjoyed the complete package! I let my girls help open all the gifts (from Colorado?) and they loved every bit of it.

I will post pics soon as my work computer is ancient and doesn't like the idea of having to work to hard. I have been trying since Monday to post and this is the first time my computer would actually let me stay online for more than 2 minutes.

I will also update knitting next time as I am SLAMMED at work and barely have time to breath let alone blog. So I'll consider this my "smoke break" as I don't smoke and stand on the dock and shoot the shit. I'll spend my "smoke break" updating my blog.

Busy, busy life

I cannot believe that it has been over a week again. I am so busy at work here lately, I feel as though the blogger world is passing me by. I really need my own computer...BAD!

Well, anyway...on the knitting front. I have been working away on my Summer Sock Party sock for my pal. All that is left is to do the short row toe. (Don't worry pal, I will be sending short row instructions for both). It's really pretty, just ask Miss Tonia.

I am also still on the hunt for a yarn worthy enough to become the Central Park Hoodie.

Sorry for the short little post, but I have more work to get done. Pics to come soon...hopefully...but not of my sock 'cause it's a secret (me grinning). C-ya!

Ok, now I've worked in the air freight industry for over 12 years now and have yet to see anything like this...

We are delivering this to New York. I can only imagine what our driver will be thinking...I mean dreaming on his way to New York with this Victoria's Secret Hummer on the back of his roll back. Heck, imagine all the strange stares and fingers pointing he will get.

Holy Cow....I'm A Slacker!!!

Wow! How time flies when you don't have a computer at home. The only time I get to update my blog is either at work or at my mom's. Yes, I know...a 30 year old woman who doesn't own her own computer, YIKES! I am still in the process of trying to steal from the rich so I can afford my poor a$$ ways. For the most part though, things are starting to get on track.

For many years of my life I haven't really known what I wanted to do. But I have found sanity in raising my girls and in knitting. And just for poops and grins I enjoy torturing my ex (aka:my babies daddy) . It makes for great stories later. Anyway, I just needed to update my blog since I have been such a bad blogger ( I am sorry).

Work life has been slammed. But, hey, it makes the time fly. Then after work I usually meet my girls over at our local watering hole (grandma drops them off) and I let them swim. That's usually where I get most of my knitting done. Then it's time to go home and do my daily chores... dinner, clean up, showers, laundry, feed dog, water dog, and other daily/weekly odds and ends.

On the knitting front I now have my Summer Sock Pals yarn picked out and a pattern too. Once I get my Trek Along Socks finished up, which I'm on the instep of sock #2, I'll get started on my SSP sock. Then I'll get back to my Rogue again. I had to practically force myself to set it aside to finish my Trek Along Socks. I made a promise to myself to keep my fingers off of it until my SSP's sock is complete and sent out in the mail. Which just makes me work even harder at getting things done in a timely fashion. Well, that's all for now. Pics to come later. C-ya!

I got your email and could not respond to the "anonymous" gmail. Soooooo, I'll just answer you here.

1. What is your favorite summer drink?
I would have to say it is a strawberry margarita with sugar on the rim. YUM YUM!

2. Favorite summer activities?
I like a good game of corn hole and strolls in the local parks.

3. Favorite summer foods?
I love beer boiled brats on the grill with some mustard. Potatoe salad and baked beans make
great sides with a hot off the grill bratwurst.

4. Do you normally have to adjust sock patterns for them to fit you? or are they usually comfortable as written?
Well, I am actually working on my first pair of socks for me. And if you read below on my blog entry from Sunday 6/25 it actually shows a pic of my fat foot in my first sock. I am following this pattern as is. The only thing that I did change was I added a picot edge just to give these "manly" colors a feminine touch.

And as you can see from my choice of colors on my trek along sock that I am trying to get away from my safe color zone. Which is navy blues, hunter greens, and maroons. So I am willing to try anything. Except intarsia untill I make time to figure this thing out. On my Sunday blog entry there is a cute little scarlet and grey STRIPED bag....well, it was supposed to have a block "O" on it and I didn't have enough hands nor brains at the time to figure it out so it got stripes. And some of the yarns that I have yet to work with are: koigu, cherry tree hill, interlacements, lorna's laces, socks that rock yarn and probably a lot of others but that's what I can come up with off the top of my head. But I completely understand at the same time that some of these yarns also have a hefty price tag on them and I will buy them sooner or later. For some reason though koigu seems to be scarce. I have never seen it in person before. Until next time. C-ya.

Ok, last week I started on a cute little bag done in scarlet and grey. I was making it for a birthday gift for a neighbor girl and she loved it. Here it is before and after.

If you look, I have it setting on top of my washer lid...see how big it is?

And here it is in my 8 year olds hands. It's so tiny after being so big. But it turned out perfect for a 12 year old's birthday.

Specs: Galway plymouth yarn and a pattern from hello yarn (if I remember correctly)

Now onto my Trek Along Socks. Here are a few pics of the first one complete and the second one on the needles.

I decided for the first voyage, I'd keep it simple. So we went to our local watering hole.

And here are my girls, posing on a break for me. This is our local Moose Lodge pool where we are members. It's a nice area to sit back and relax. The pool is surrounded by trees and gives me alot of shadey areas to choose from to sit and knit.

Here is a pic of sock #1. This is the first pair of socks I am actually doing for myself. So far so good.

Here is a close up of the pattern. The pattern is called Eagle's Flight. Not only is this my first pair of socks for myself but this is the first pattern I chose to do. I like it alot and will use it often. It is very simple.

It was kinda hard to take a pic of the picot edge when I also have to be the model. So here is my attempt to show off the picot edge. I learned something new...I like the picot edge alot! but not for a pair of socks for me. I want my sock to hug my foot not just sit there.

Exactly One Week

Ok, I know. I've been a bad blogger and let this update come right down to the exactly 7 day rule. And for that, I apologize. But I also will apologize that since I am updating at work I have no access (stupid computer) to download pics. Trust me I have a few. Life has been a wee bit busy since the days have become longer and warmer and dry. My girls have pool passes to our lovely local Moose Lodge so I...clock out at work, run home and get the girls, let my poor little (I've been holding it for hours) dog out to "go", find a quick "so-called" meal then get over to the pool to swim. The great part about this is I don't do public or business private pools. It makes my skin crawl to think that someone did the unmentionable in the pool. I know, I know. You ask why I think it's ok for my girls to go swimming? Well, I will be the first one to tell you, they have a shower area inside the bathroom and every break I make them rinse off and then once we get home they hop straight in the shower. Plus, my girls were told by me that if they did the unmentionable in the pool it would be more than obvious because there would be a bright pink spot in the pool right where they were and EVERYONE would know who did it. Anyway, back to the great part....I get to knit! A complete 1 1/2 to 2 hours of straight knitting outside in the beautiful shaded area by the pool where I can watch my girls have fun and I can even go purchase me a preferred beverage of choice to sip on and knit. AHHHHH! Talk about stress relief. So needless to say I have been getting some knitting done. I have picked the Rogue back up after being mad at it for a couple of months now and have got some of it accomplished. (Pic to go here but my computer sucks, so later). I am also almost done with my Trek Along socks and have a few pics of it's travel to the pool side. I plan for it to travel some more though. And I am just started yesterday on a small handbag done in OSU style. (I'll definately have to take some picks of it before and after I felt it. I am working with two colors for the very first time and I don't like it (yet). Granted the finished piece will look awesome buuuuuutt I'm one for nice tidy work areas and the back of the thing isn't so nice to look at. So I have taken it upon myself to cut and knot all ends (since it's going to be felted and most likely lined), no one will ever even know. So shhhhhh! Well, since I can't post pics (stupid computer), I'll be done for now. And by the way....Have a great first day of summer. Go Summer Sock Party! Woo Hoo!!! C-ya.

You are #1 in my book...especially my new Yarns to Dye For book. You are awesome!

I am already into the 3rd chapter. This is now my 2nd book I have ever owned that I will admit to reading from cover to cover. Of coarse you have those good ol' book reports in school but I was all about scanning over the book or finding someone who had already read the book and then write my report. I hated reading. But since I have turned 30 (yep, just this year) something has come over me...a sense of needing to know certain things and wanting to learn on my own instead of being told how to do it. Hmmm, this must be my independance creeping out. Watch out book world....I'm on to ya now. (hee hee)

This was sitting on my porch when I got home yesterday. My girls were the first one's to the door when we got home and announced loudly that there was a "package" for mom on the porch. Which instantly sends me running to the porch to see where it came from...but guess what. My secret pal is very sneaky...you see...there was no return address or anything. So thank you secret pal where ever in the world you live. C-ya!

Current Events In My Life

Well first of all I would like to share with you a pic of some of the most yummy yarn I've laid my eyes on. I hope you are sitting down for fear of fainting. Ya'll ready? Here it is...
Buckeye fans, stop drooling. Can you actually believe that I got this at one of my LYS? This is Claudia's Hand Painted Yarn in the colorway....BUCKEYE!!! I got the biggest kick out of it, that I just had to have some. I can't wait to knit some sock in this yarn. It is so soft and plush and so Buckeye.

Oh, and to my surprise on Friday morning I was greeted by this at the side of my front porch...

YAY! My lillies finally bloomed. Aren't they purdy?

Then, once I got to work, Miss Tonia called me out to the dock with my camera to take a pic of the tiniest little frog or toad (I can't tell) I have ever seen. Mind you, this thing is sitting on someone index finger.

Then after work, my mom watched the kids all day and had them out at the barn so when I got there this is what I was welcomed with...

First off is Renae on Forbes inside of the arena at my mom's barn. Then...

Elizabeth got on Forbes to show me that she could get him to trot. After a few minutes I asked them to let Forbes get some dinner and rest and here is my loving mother, and her to favorite grand daughters (her only grandkids) right before we said good night to Forbes.

And on our way back to the car we saw this in the neighbor's yard. It's such a calming site to see this...

Okay, so here are the pics of Renae's kool aid anklettes. She just loves them. They kinda grow on ya.

Ok, I must admit...not such a great shot. But on the right side of the pic are my four rows of impatients. And on the left side there is a hosta, 3 mums. Behind the hosta (which you can't see) are some stargazer lillies coming up. I'm pretty proud of my little area. I took this pic right after I trimmed all of the bushes back so you could see my hanging baskets. This is my little piece of sanity next to knitting of coarse. I can't wait for my stargazers to bloom. They always smell soooooo good.

And believe it or not, I took these from my old place in February. I must admit, I didn't think they would come back (since I took them out of shear spite) but obviously they wanted to come with me. Last year, this was only 2 lillies. And this year I have 5 or 6. I actually think there are 6, but one is small and in the back where you can't see it.

Long Time No Update

Sorry, I didn't realize just exactly how long it has been since my last entry. But I guess some time has slipped by me. Sooooo, I'll update ya on my life.

Not really a whole lot goes on in my life except the usual daily routine. You know, get up, take a shower, get the girls up, dressed, and fed and off to the sitters then go to work. I guess you could say my life is bland in a sense. But I would rather be home with my girls than out on the "bar scene", if you get my drift. There are way too many weirdo's out there.

Anyway, I can throw myself a pity party on my own time. Time to update knitting news. Sorry, no pics yet. I have to go visit my mom and use her computer for those. But I will do that soon. I finished a pair of footies out of the kool aid yarn I dyed for Renae and am getting ready to start a pair for Elizabeth. They turned out awesome. Or at least they are loved by who will be wearing them:) (the stripes are crazy, you'll see). I also will be starting on my Trek Along socks this weekend. I can't wait. Hopefully it's nice outside this weekend so I can go to a park for a walk and take some pics with my traveling trekking sock. C-ya.

Yes, I'm still breathing

Ok, it's been a few days since I've actually updated my blog...there is nothing really exciting going on right now. I am still working on my girls kool aid socks. Let me make it just a little more clear...I am still working on the FIRST sock for my girls. I have frogged it so many times I'm surprised that the yarn hasn't tried to run away from me. Let's not give it any ideas though. I have also been very busy trying to get my SP8's package together so I can ship it to her. I have made some things for her and now I'm just waiting for some things I ordered to come in.

As I stated before, I am doing the Trek Along KAL. This is my first official KAL. I can't wait! But you know I'm going to get some crazy looks when I take a picture of a sock in progress on a walking trail or where ever it is I go. But oh well, I'll just smile back at them to reassure them I'm a nut. :)

I am also trying to fix my amazon wish list since it is not working. So I'll get it fixed and this way the special person who gets to spoil me can look my list up by my name. (Thanks SpiffySP)

You know, now that I'm thinking about it...I did accomplish something this weekend. I planted more flowers and trimmed up the bushes in the front. I'll get the camera out and take some pics of that tonight. So pics to come later. C-ya!

My Dog Buttercup

Usually I try not to talk about these things publically. I usually only share these kinds of stories with my friends and family (not saying you aren't friends), but....it was too funny not to share so here goes. Some of you will probably think this is gross but some of you may have experienced this mishap and can laugh with me.

Last night as I was sitting in bed knitting and my dog Buttercup was in a deep sleep at my feet. Well all of a sudden I heard this noise. A noise as if someone had blown up a balloon and was letting the air out slowly (you see where this is going, don't you). Well, anyway...it was enough of a noise to get my attention and also wake Buttercup up. Lo and behold, wouldn't ya know as this noise is progressively getting a bit louder, Buttercup sits up and starts sniffing. Then it dawned on me that my dog (yep, Buttercup) just let a ferosious fart...a loud one at that. So as I am scrambling to shove a pillow towards my face just in case, ya know, the odor of dog. I looked at her and she looked at me and I said to her calmly...I think you should leave now. And of coarse as if she understands everything I say she jumped off of my bed and went out in the living room to lay. After about 5 minutes of breathing through a pillow I lowered it slowly to make sure the air was safe for breathing AHHHHHHH it was (thankfully). About 10 minutes later poor Buttercup comes back in my room with her head down as if trying to be invisible and goes in and gets a drink of water and goes back out in the living room to sleep. When she came into the room I called for her to get back on the bed but she ignored me almost as if she was to embarrassed to even look at me. I have never laughed so hard at Buttercup in my life. I have had her for about 7 maybe 8 years and she is just the greatest dog ever. Thanks for reading my sick, goofy, funny story about my lovable pup Buttercup. I hope it made someone laugh:) C-ya!

I know, I know...that was yesterday. But everyday is Mother's Day when you're a mom. I don't care how bad the day is going there is always something you can look back on and chuckle about. I always try to find the good in things vs. seeing the bad. Yes, I know, it's hard sometimes but hey, you only live once : )

Well, for my mom for Mother's Day I made her a pair of socks...with love. She loved them. This was the first pair of socks I had ever completed and they turned out great!!! Here are a few pics:

Isn't it cute? It just happened by accident from where I tucked the center pull in. Anyway, back to the socks, my first socks, the socks that turned out great for my first complete pair...

One pair down and lots more fun to have. Next, footie's for my girls out of the kool aid yarn I dyed earlier. YAY!

Thursday, I stopped at my mom's house and she gave me a laser pointer. Now I have had many of these things, but when you have kids they disappear in seconds. Well, in my house...this is what happens:

Moonie decides (for once) that she's actually going to partake in the fun. (You can barely see it but the red dot is right beside her front paw.)

And here we have Buttercup and Vinnie stareing up at the ceiling for......

this red dot. Buttercup goes nuts for this thing. When you don't feel like taking her for a walk, all you gotta do is pull out the trusty laser pointer and let her chase it for a few minutes. Then she's wore out for the rest of the night. Now mind you...this dog will run herself in circles until she falls over dizzy if you let her. Nothing like free entertainment. C-ya!

Just Another Day

Yesterday I went to Wally world and purchase my almost 11 yr old an MP3 player. Today I brought it to work to open it up and set it up for her. She's one of those kids who just wants it out of the package and working within seconds of getting. So I am a step ahead of her on this one. Well, I opened it and Miss Tonia helped me setup the songs on it and went to test it out and low and behold the dang thing powers down 30 seconds after being turned on. I replaced the battery, called tech support and everything. Well, if all else fails take it back for another one. So after I get off of work I have to make a mad dash for Wally world (again) and do the ol'
swap-er-roo. Fun, Fun! The things I do for my girls...I love them sooooo much.

Anyway, just to make me feel old Renae, my oldest is turning 11 on Monday (sob, sniffle, sob). So the MP3 player among other fun items will just make it fun for her. As it is right now, she hyjacks my ipod whenever she gets a chance.

On the knitting front...I will post a pic of my (going to be tonight) completed socks that are for my mom on Sunday, as soon as I can get my camera to a computer. So probably tomorrow (hopefully). Then I will try to get back on my Rogue but I might start another pair of socks. For some reason the Rogue and I aren't getting along to well so I haven't been working on it. Since I have had to frog it twice now I'm still a little mad at it. Pics to come later. C-ya.

As Promised...

Hello, it is me...the crazy lady that can't get the computer to work (most of the time) to save my a$$. So I finally got the pics of my finished blanket done and here they are...

Yes, I know they are a little dark but if I used the flash the darn thing just looked white. So I used a varigated encore for this baby blanket that had pastels of purple, yellow, pink, and peach. And mind you that I did not intend for it to stripe but it turned out that way.

I thought it turned out good. I'm sure the baby will enjoy it.

So since this past weekend...I have completed my first sock!!! (YAY!!!) I am so proud of myself for following the directions from a book on how to turn a heel. And why, you ask is "from a book" in bold? Well, that would be because this is the first book I have ever purchased (yes, that's right, I'm 30 and it's my first) and I am actually reading it because I want to. I will find a computer tonight (hopefully) that is willing to work for me tonight and post the pics. I will have the mate done soon as they are for my mom for Mother's Day.

Also, I just want to say HEY (hands waving) to my Secret Pal, this is also my first time participating. :)~

Ok, I'm addicted!!!

Yesterday my "color your own" yarn arrived from knit picks. So Miss Tonia and I set out to try our hands at kool aid dying our own yarn. And I have to admit...I WANT MORE!!!

Ok, so I chose orange, strawberry, berry blue, and lemon lime. This is actually a simple task. I was kind of hesitent at first for fear of some big mess. But there was not even a hint that anything ever happened in our kitchen when we were done. Awesome! Except for the mason jars left to dry.

Yes, I know...this looks goofy. But hey it worked, at least I got the yarn set out so it could be divided into 4 equal sections. Of coarse Miss Tonia helped. This part definately takes 2 people. Once the sections were tied off then it was time to get the wool wet and give it a mild cleansing. So into some woolite it went. Just for a few seconds and then I rinsed it out and squeezed as much water as I could out of it. Then...

you put a packet of kool aid in a mason jar, fill it with room temp water and in goes the wool. Very neat. Mind you, I have never done this before and yes I have read of others experiences but still...I don't believe it until I see it with my own eyes. The wool sucks all the color out of the water. See...

The yarn sucks the color up in no time flat. Then I let it cool. With a little help of coarse. Miss Tonia said that the site she was reading said not to shock the wool or it will felt so the mason jars went into the sink filled with warm water then I worked my way to cool water. Once I did that then I started to add cool water into the mason jars to cool that water down. Then the yarn got rinsed out and squeezed again. Here are pics of the almost clear water that the yarn came out of and the yarn in the various stages after drip drying.

Look at how awesome the colors turned out!!! I am so excited!!!

Then we hung it up overnight to drip dry.

And here is the final product...I have named it Snowcone. For some reason the colors take me back to childhood when we used to get the multi flavored snowcones. Yum Yum!

Also, I almost forgot...I have pics of the baby blanket I finished this past weekend, but now the blogger has gotten hungry and is eating my pics everytime I try to add them. So I'll add them later. C-ya!

Friday Again

YAY! Another weekend of beautiful weather!!! That means open up the windows and let the fresh air in. Or at least what we believe to be fresh air.

Last night, while the kids were with their dad...I went to Sutherlands. Kind of like a small version of Home Depot or Lowes. Just a bit closer to my house plus they usually have great sales. Well, hot damn...they did. I found 4" perinnials for under a $1. WOO HOO! Flowers here I come. So I went ahead and picked up a few. I have pics but the camera is on charge right now so I'll get them up later. It's not much really. But to be able to play outside in the dirt and arrange flowers the way I want with a helpful hand from Miss Tonia of coarse is just so peaceful. Gotta have my rubber gloves though. I have this horrible thing with textures. I can't stand to touch alot of things with my bare hands but give me some surgical gloves and I can touch anything...well almost anything (get you minds out of the gutter). Miss Tonia laughs at me because of this issue, hell I laugh at myself. I have tried to play in the dirt without them and then I just can't take it no more. I have to break down and get my "security" gloves on. And don't even get me started on pumpkin carving. Now I love to get those books of complex pictures and carve at least 4 pumpkins by myself but someone else has got to get the guts out for me. YUK!!! I usually leave it up to my girls or their father to do that part. I just can't do it. It's too gross!

Anyway, back to knitting...I am almost to the half way point on the baby blanket that I am working on and hope to get it done this weekend. Maybe I'll take the girls to a park and just sit and knit while they wear themselves out. Once the blanket is finished then I can reward myself by getting back to my rogue. I have seen 2 completed rogue's on Claudia's blog(in her "my gallery" on her side bar) and can't wait to finish mine. I hope if I have questions I might be able to get a few helpful hints from her or anyone else who may have a few moments to spare when I get stuck. Also, I have a sock that I casted on I think at the beginning of March that is still only maybe 15 rows deep. I will get to that soon or later. I may just end up sending it to the frog pond for now and start on it later. C-ya!
