Jaywalkin'

YAY! I have finished a pair of jaywalkers...a pattern by the Great Grumperina. This is an easy knit, even though I decided to be a slowpoke about the whole thing. But here they are in their glory...

I did these in Lorna's Laces in the colorway Childsplay on US 1 DPN's.

I also am in the Socks That Rock club and got my newest shipment of yummy yarn...I am in love...it is some of the prettiest colors yet that I have seen...here you judge for yourself.

Ok, that's about all I have for now...life is going good. I have started on 1 of my 2 sock swaps socks so far and am looking for the perfect yarn and pattern for the other. I hope all is well out there in blogland.

Back into the groove...

Okay, here is my Hurricane Sock Swap questionaire. Sorry it took forever and a day but I've been busy. I have contacted my secret pal but have yet to hear from mine. Maybe this will help. Sorry.

I apologize in advance for the spacing and all....just wasn't working so I caved.

Here goes:

1. Repeat after me "no hurricanes, no hurricanes, no hurricanes" . Okay we just had to get that one out of the way first. We needed to created a bit of "good weather karma"! GRIN

No wammies, no wammies, no wammies! LOL

2. If your pet(s) wrote a paragraph about you to describe you to us what would they say? (If you have no pets then just pretend you husband or best friend wrote it! This is a 3rd person writing exercise that is always fun.)

Woof, Buttercup here…let me just say that Amy is a great owner. Always prompt to feed me and let me out to go potty. *wags tail* She also loves her knitting. I generally sit at her feet and get a good belly rub as she knits away. Thanks knitting world for allowing her this addiction. It definitely hads helped me to get more belly rubs. What more could I ask for. Signing off….Buttercup.

3. What is your favorite hurricane supplies snack?

Pretzels, mesquite BBQ Pringles, peanut butter twix, toffifay’s,
starburst regular flavors, mentos fruity flavors

4. Do sock patterns normally fit you "as written" or do you usually modify them for size in any way? (other than foot length)

I’ve only made a few pairs for me but generally follow the pattern.

5. What are your foot measurements, not just shoe size? (Measure the length of your foot from heel to toe, then the ball of your foot. )

Once my secret pal sends me a message I will disclose this info. Thanks.

6. What one city abroad would you visit and why if money was no object? (and terrorism was non-existant)

I would love to goto Austailia… I have always wanted to see the “out back”

7. Do you wear socks all year round or just during the winter? Do you prefer them tall or short or regular height?

I always have socks on unless I’m sleeping. I think my feet are ugly and wouldn’t want to scare others away. (LOL)

8. The last time the power was out during hurricane season (or bad weather of any kind) did you knit by lantern or were you lucky enough to knit to the humm of a generator? Or did you knit at all?

Well, since I live in Ohio, not much happens around here. But we do have power surges from time to time. Just this week I had to take a shower in the morning by candlelight. But at work, I have knit when the electric has went out. I actually pray for those days.

9. Make a wish for your favorite sock yarn that you've already used once. What would it be? ? Dont be shy about listing an exact colorway or two if you'd like.

I love the Claudia’s Handpainted. Anything colorful. Not to
Crazy about things mixed on white…Blah.

10. What is it about sock knitting that keeps you wanting to knit more and more socks?

They are just an addictive thing. And make for an easy travel project. Small and compact enough to carry just about anywhere.

11. Make a wish for a sock yarn that you are dying to try but haven't bought for yourself yet. (be specific, even colorway if you'd like).

I would love to try some of Scouts Swag. Her tarzhay and secret look fab. I like secret more though.

12. What size needles do you knit socks for YOURSELF with the most? Are they circular or bamboo needles? What brand?

I usually use US1’s or 2’s and I love my Crystal Palace Bamboo DPN’s. Couldn’t live without them.

13. If you could only take 3 yarn related books and one previously knitted project that you love with you when you evacuated what would they be?

Well books that I would love to have to take with me would be… Victorian Lace Today, Stichonary 2, and Knitting Vintage Socks. I’d have to take my Rogue since I have yet to finish it but I do love it.

14. What knitting notion do you wish you had that you just keep putting off getting for yourself?

Well of coarse the most expensive items…. Swift ad ball winder

15. What is your favorite tv show?

I would have to say Las Vegas CSI

16. Do you want a lacey sock or a "solid fabric" sock from your hurricane partner?

Surprise me. I’m willing to try anything on a sock.. Just don’t care to much for cables on a sock. Small areas and cable needles don’t get along with fat fingers. LOL

17. It's midnight and the power has been off for two days, its hot, and you have a craving for something sweet! What would it be? (This is a FOOD related question ladies! LOL)

Well it would obviously be something I couldn’t have since the electric’s off… ICECREAM. Of coarse. But I’d settle for some tootsie rolls, starburst.

18. Tell us a story about any of your hurricane weather related experiences.

I really don’t have any…I live in Ohio and I don’t even have a family story to tell cuz none of my family members live in hurricane’s way. Sorry, I’m boring like that.

19. What was the one thing you wish you had remembered to get last year for hurricane supplies that you swore you wouldn't forget this year?

Again. I have never experienced a hurricane

20. What color sock would you like to recieve from your sock partner? (if you don't have a pref just say so otherwise give us a hint!)

Anything bright and pretty. My favorite color is blue, but I love bright pinks, oranges, purples, greens, yellow. I figure if they are handmade they don’t need to be white in anyway. I can purchase those at the store

Alive and well

Well, I am still alive and kickin'. But have kind of lost my knitting groove. Between my girls, work, and personal life... it's been a bit of a whirlwind here lately. I am in a few swaps so I hope I find my groove soon. Wish me luck.

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot...Happy April Fools Day.
